Entrepreneur Crush of the Week: Rebecca Kenny
Happy Tuesday my lovelies!
For my Entrepreneur Crush of the Week, I'm going to feature somebody near and dear to my heart: Rebecca Kenny. Our relationship is a healthy one, however, I will openly admit that I have an unhealthy jealously toward her.
Not only is Becca a great friend, she is a KILLER entrepreneur. And while I could go on and on about the many amazing personal qualities she possesses, I'm just going to take the time to fill you in on her business side because eventually you will bore of my obsession with her.
I took a rare (like, once-a-year type of rare) girls' day at the pool a few weeks ago and Becca was there. At one point, she handed me a couple of magazines: the Magnolia Journal and a business magazine. I wasn't surprised by this but my first thought may or may not have been, "does she ever stop?" (Please note, I was nothing short of impressed and was simply wondering if she ever took a break from learning - because, let's be honest here, I do!) I'm ashamed to admit I don't exactly take interest in reading business magazines (or most business literature, for that matter) and mostly only look at pretty pictures, strangely enough.
Though Becca did not start out with Knot & Nest, this has been one of her biggest projects and she has been sharpening her entrepreneur claws since I've known her. Started in 2013, Knot & Nest has had just under 16,000 sales on Etsy to date. Let me break it down like this: Becca is an entrepreneurial crocodile, constantly evolving to withstand her environment, slowly and carefully calculating her next move while studying her prey (her competitors), maintaining her tactical side as flawlessly and effortlessly as some women maintain their hair, makeup, and nails (oh, well, she does that AS WELL), and only strikes when the time is right, causing nothing but an upward rise in this business empire of hers. She is definitely something to fear in the game of business! Also, she does all this with her customers' needs in mind - they are her business and there's a reason she has five stars and nothing but good reviews. I mean, stuff gets put on hold whenever Becca invites me to be a part of her business venture.
So how does Becca inspire me? Aside from ALL the reasons above - and the fact I want to be like her when I grow up - she has offered me plenty of advice with my own business. I am always humbled and impressed by somebody else's willingness to set valuable time aside for the growth of others. She is never short on positivity and encouraging words. From Becca, I have learned to slow down and research a little before completely investing time or money in to something. I have also learned that organization is quite important. I am forever indebted for all the times Becca has shared her wisdom or let me take part in anything business-related. I can truly say without hesitation, Leslie Hand Photography wouldn't be where it is today without her. And, hey, who doesn't love a high-quality, personalized burlap print?!
